Minutes of a meeting of Ohai Community Development Area Subcommittee held in the Ohai Hall, 10 Richmond Street, Ohai on Tuesday, 29 May 2018 at 6pm.

Ohai Community Development Area Subcommittee

29 May 2018

 

                Prior to the commencement of the formal meeting Mr McNaught was in attendance to discuss issues relating to the town hall. This included heating, painting and possible reinstatement of the oil burner and progress of the community consultation/survey.

 

                During this informal meeting Members requested staff arrange for the Hall boiler to be scoped by a contractor to ascertain if it is feasable to reinstate and that any survey to be undertaken prior to the next Community Development Area Subcommittee meeting which is scheduled in August 2018.

 

 

Member Anderson arrived at 6.44pm.

 

 

The formal section of the meeting commenced at 6.55pm.

There was an apology received from the Chairperson Member Day.

 

Resolution

Moved Cr Perham, seconded Member Miller  and resolved:

That the Ohai Community Development Area Subcommittee accept the apology.

 

 

2             Leave of absence

 

There were no requests for leave of absence.

 

 

3             Conflict of Interest

 

There were no conflicts of interest declared.

 

 

4             Public Forum

 

John Hogg

 

John Hogg addressed the meeting in relation to forming an Emergency Management Group incorporating both Ohai and Nightcaps areas in the event of emergences in this area.

 

 

5             Extraordinary/Urgent Items

 

There were no Extraordinary/Urgent items.

 


6          Confirmation of Minutes

 

Resolution

Moved Member Anderson, seconded Member Miller  

That the Ohai Community Development Area Subcommittee confirms the minutes of the meeting held on 20 March 2018 as a true and correct record of that meeting.

7.1

Council Report

Record No: R/18/5/10556

 

Community Partnerships Leader, Kelly Tagg was in attendance for this item.

 

Mrs Tagg advised the purpose of the report is to provide an overview of key issues across the Southland District, as well as high level local issues from various Council units.

 

Mrs Tagg informed the report highlighted various issues of interest including:

 

§  Encouraged members to make submission to the representation review due 6 June 2018.

 

§  LED streetlight replacement work is currently underway in Ohai.

 

§  Update on finances overall budgets are on track.

 

 

Resolution

Moved Deputy Chairperson McGeoch, seconded Member Miller  and resolved:

That the Ohai Community Development Area Subcommittee:

a)            Receives the report titled “Council Report” dated 23 April 2018.

 

 

 


 

Updates

 

 

8.1

Chairperson's Report

 

Deputy Chairperson McGeoch reported on activities with which she has been involved since the Subcommittee’s last meeting. This included the following:

§  requested staff to obtain costings and options for a proposed town notice board

 

§  requested the Community Engineer to undertake a township tour with members of the subcommittee to view the overgrown properties within the township with the view of a reminder notice being sent to absentee landowners to undertake remedial action.

 

Resolution

Moved Deputy Chairperson McGeoch, seconded Member Miller  and resolved:

That the Ohai Community Development Area Subcommittee:

a)            Requests staff obtain costings and options for a proposed notice board for the Ohai Township to be presented to the next meeting of the subcommittee.

 

b)           Requests staff undertake a township tour with members of the subcommittee to view the overgrown properties within the township with the view of a reminder being sent to absentee landowners to undertake remedial action.
