1    Applications have been received from two individuals seeking grants to assist with tertiary study and travel.  The Subcommittee is requested to consider the applications and direct accordingly.

2    The Subcommittee is directed to section 12 of the Ohai Railway Fund Policy approved by Council on 16 November 2016 (copy attached) which sets out the criteria for individual applications.

 

 

Recommendation

That the Ohai Railway Fund Subcommittee:

a)         Receives the report titled “Ohai Railway Fund - Further Tertiary Applications” dated 24 November 2016.

 

b)         Determines that this matter or decision be recognised as not significant in terms of Section 76 of the Local Government Act 2002.

c)         Determines that it has complied with the decision-making provisions of the Local Government Act 2002 to the extent necessary in relation to this decision; and in accordance with Section 79 of the Act determines that it does not require further information, further assessment of options or further analysis of costs and benefits or advantages and disadvantages prior to making a decision on this matter.

d)      Considers the applications and directs accordingly.

An application to the Ohai Railway Fund has been received from Lake Johns wishing to apply for $2,038 to assist with the cost of travel, food, equipment/gear and pre-fight training to attend Boxing training 2-3 times a week in Invercargill.

 

Mr Johns is a High School student, does not have an income and his mother is not able to assist financially.

 

Mr Johns advises the equipment he requires totals $758.00, transport costs $60.00 per week, food $400 and travel to Sydney Gymnasium $20.00 per travel.

 

                Mr Johns is proposing to contribute $200.00 toward the total cost.

 

                Mr Johns also wishes to undertake further training in Australia.
